Hi would the 4000 be suitable for a Diawa 12ft 3lb Black Widow deadbait rod or would the larger Black Widow 5000 BR LT reel be better?

Hi John,
The 4000 size would be suitable if you are not needing to cast too far, such as dead baiting on rivers.
If you are fishing big open waters such as reservoirs then I would recommend the larger 5000 size.

Baitrunner style reels are usually sold for freshwater use. Daiwa don't make a mag-sealed or saltwater rated version of this reel.
