Hi, looking for a reel to pair with the Drennan specialist barbel 1.75TC. Have been looking at the Daiwa Ninja 20 BR LT and the Daiwa 19 Emcast BR LT (both 5000) but leaning towards the Ninja. Fishing smaller rivers for barbel, appreciate any thoughts. Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve.
Both of the reels you have mentioned are fantastic choices for the rod you have. Both reels feature Daiwa's new LT (light and tough) technology, making them extremely tough for hard fighting Barbel.
If I had to choose one I would choose the Ninja as I personally use Ninja reels for all my coarse fishing.

How do you use the switch at the back when casting ?

Hi Shay. Thanks for the question. You don’t use the BR switch until your rods are in place after you’ve cast. Cast out, rod on your rests then engage the BR switch. Should you have an aggressive bite the fish can safely take line. You can either manually turn off the switch to engage the clutch or turn the handle. Hope this helps. Regards, Tackleuk

I’m looking for a pair of Baitrunner reels I usually buy shimano but I find the 4000 too small and the 6000 too big so I’m looking for something in between How does the ninja 5000 compare??
