Questions and Answers

Q

Do you need a leader on the 18lb

By Andy Card - Faversham kent - 24th Apr 2026
A

Hi Andy, thanks for the question. That is a personal thing and venue dependant. Some people like using leaders on fisheries that allow them but I know some of the team here don’t use leaders. If you intend on distance casting then yes, a shock leader should be used but if you are in a short chuck peg then upto yourself. Hope this helps. Regards, Tackleuk

Q

What would be best for solid bag fish mainly in Scotland so massive casting not essential thanks

By Brian Burt - Scotland - 2nd Jul 2025
A

Hi Brian, thanks for the question. I would choose a breaking strain based on the venue's your are fishing. If the venue has snags, islands or larger fish I would recommend the 18lb. If it's not then 16lb will be fine. If you then move on to bigger venues or need to cast further this line is also perfect for that. Hope this helps. Regards, Andy
