as the braid 30 lb would you have to use a shock leader?

Hi George, thanks for the question. I would always recommend a shock leader when using braid. Braid or mono will be fine but if using a braided shock leader, I would recommend a finger stall as well. Hope this helps. Regards, Andy

Is this reel water proof

They're not magnetically sealed like some high end reels are but you'd sill use them outdoors in all weathers.
