Questions and Answers

Q

Do you have to re-zero each time they turn off or do they retain until you are again

A
Hi David, They're zero'd from the off when you switch them on. If you mean remembering the weight of your weighing sling etc, then you'll probably have to re-zero them. ' Regards TackleUK

When my mate first told me he was buying one, I rubbished the idea. But when I saw it and how its put together I decided to buy one myself. The best bit about it is that's its very easy to use, simple and quick to put together and take apart. All the legs are stored in slots under the platform so no need to put them in your bag. As it has 6 legs it makes it very sturdy in use as a platform, if one of them goes loose while you are sat on it then you still got the other 5 to support you. On my old platform, sometimes one of the legs would sink in the mud and that made it unsteady. The knobs that hold the legs in their slots are made of metal so there is no chance of the plastic turning bit breaking off.The legs have nice big feet on the bottom. Because its only got one wheel you would think it may be unsteady, but its not, and you can adjust the supporting legs so they are never far off the floor. The advantage of having only one wheel is that when you are walking down the tow path it is always in the centre of the path. How the wheel is situated on the platform is that its under the platform instead of being in front like a normal wheelbarrow so it supports the weight. So a very well thought out piece of kit.

I have not yet tested the scales on the bank, however they were received well packaged and were very easy to start up. Just remember to hold the power switch for a few seconds until they power off or battery life could be limited. I tested the scales with a 1 lb kitchen weight and the scales indicated 1 lb exactly, so I am happy with that. When unpacked they fit snugly into the neat carrying case, which has a belt loop for the roving angler.

Good scales, accurate, compact and well formed. My only observation is the lack of 'OFF' thus leading to high battery usage if your caching regularly. Don't hang them upside down on the side of your bivvie or brollies as they never switch off hence high battery consumption. Hope this helps you..

Haven't been out of the house yet but in testing they appear to be very accurate. an 11lb bag of rice came in at 11lb 2oz. I'll allow the 2oz for the bag. very easy to use and very clear. compact and light and will also tare any weigh sling you might have. Looking forward to actually weighing a fish!

At last... a compact and lightweight set of digital scales. I have been using the original fox scales for a few years now, but always had an issue with the weight of them when wanting to travel light for Chub and Barbel sessions.I had gone back to using my lightweight Waymaster dial scales. I christened these on a couple of 5lb Chub last week and couldn't fault them. Press the top button to choose kg or lbs, put the weigh sling on the scales and press the bottom button to zero (this will give you a minus reading on the LCD display) place the fish in sling and....PB or not PB! May be just one very small gripe... it takes just a few seconds to record the weight once the fish is on the scales but i actually found this more of a bonus as you are kept in suspense just that little bit longer!! They also switch themselves off after a few minutes which obviously saves on battery life. Looking forward to many years of use.
